Frequently Asked Questions

Will extracting audio reduce the audio quality?

Not significantly. When the source audio is already in the target format (e.g. AAC in MP4 → AAC output), FFmpeg can extract it without re-encoding — keeping the original quality byte for byte. When a format conversion is needed, our settings use high-quality bitrates.

What video formats are supported as input?

You can upload MP4, WebM, MKV, MOV, AVI, FLV, WMV, and most other common video containers. The tool extracts audio regardless of the video codec used inside the file.

Which format should I choose for a podcast or voiceover?

MP3 at high quality is the standard for podcasts — it's universally supported by every podcast platform and player. For studio voiceover work that will be edited in a DAW, choose WAV or FLAC for an uncompressed master.

Can I extract audio from a YouTube video I downloaded?

You may only process files you own or have explicit authorization to process. Do not upload copyrighted content you do not own. See our copyright policy for details.

Is my file stored on your servers?

No permanently. Your video and extracted audio are automatically deleted within 60 minutes of processing. We do not retain, sell, or analyse your files.
